5/12/12: A very BIG thank you to all of my parents and students. I am so greatful for all of my fantastic gifts last week. Everyone was so generous and thoughtful, I can't thank you enough. I will have a very nice shopping spree at Sports Chalet for sure. Another BIG thank you goes out to all of those that helped out at field day. I could not have done it without your help.

4/21/12: We need all the help we can get for field day on May 11th. We are looking for 60 volunteers. So parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends are all welcome to sign up. 4/3/12: Hello everyone. I would like to apologize for my tardiness but let you know that this Thursday is the awards ceremony for third quarter. Notices are being sent out tomorrow. Also 4th grade students will be performing a short 5-10 minute Easter skit at the Chapel service. As many of you know it was a rough weekend for me but, I feel truly bad about the late notice.
3/23/12: 3rd quarter is now over. I am so proud of all my students and how well they did on their AR goal. New goals are already set for quarter 4. Your students will be given their goals on Monday. Way to go everyone.

3/1/12: Woo hoo! We finally achieved our box top goal. We will be having ice cream tomorrow at lunch. It is also a free dress day for fourth grade.
2/27/12: Due to my absence on Thursday and Friday I have decided to push the science quiz back to Wednesday this week.
2/27/12: Hello everyone. As you may have already heard I had to leave school early on Thursday for a family emergency. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. My apologies for not being able to get the progress reports out on Friday. They will be sent home with your students tomorrow.

2/6/12: The field trip is tomorrow. It is very important that your students are here by 7:30. Please make sure they have: warm clothes, lunch, workbooks, pencils, backpack and water. These items will not be available at the Honda Center.
2/3/12: At last! I have set up a scholastic account for the class. Order forms were sent home today and need to be back by the 17th.
2/2/12: Study those math packets, we have a test on Monday. If you see a pattern of red marks in your packets study those problems.
1/30/12: Just a reminder, we will be having our PE field trip next Tuesday.
1/27/12: We will be having our Gold Rush social studies test Tuesday. Please keep in mind that students have 2 more weeks left from today to complete their book reports. Some time will be given in class to work on them, but the more reading that can be done at home the better. Each student has a detailed list of what they need in their binders. Report cards were sent home today. Please return the highlited section signed on Monday with assignment summaries.
1/19/12: Hello everyone. I could use a little help. I thought I owned a copy of Willy Wonka (the first edition) but can't seem to find it. If anyone has it on vhs or dvd and can send it in tomorrow that would be great. If so could you email me and let me know so that I can end my search.
1/12/12: Our last math test of the semester will be on Tuesday. Based off of the last quiz scores it looks like everyone should do great, but still be sure to study. Also our last health test will be next friday (1/20/12). Study guides will go home tomorrow.
1/6/12: Our final science quiz of the quarter will be on Wednesday.
1/4/12: We have a new Night writer Assignment that started today. This time students will have it for 4 nights. Please share in this process with your students as it is a large part of their language arts grade. Detailed rules and instructions are included in the folder. If your student does not have it yet, ask them to tell you about it. They seem to be excited for this one (well most do).

12/13/11: On Friday afternoon we will be having a small (very small) Christmas celebration. We will mostly have some snacks, make a craft or two, and watch a few Christmas movies. If anyone wants to send their students to school Friday with a special snack, treat or perhaps a craft that would be great. If you do decide to send your child with a craft it would be great if they brought it on Thursday so I can get it all set up before Friday. Thanks for your support everyone.

12/1/11: Great news parents and students. There is a new spelling website with great games and activities to help study spelling words. Just click on this link to see the list for tomorrrow's test http://www.spellingcity.com/dwalton/. The students have already seen a demonstration on how to use the program. Also, two students have not turned in their permisiion slip for the play next Tuesday. Tomorrow is the absolute LAST day to turn them in.
11/30/11: We will be having a social studies test on 12/7/11 covering chapter 4. Please encourage your students to review their study guides a little each day.
11/30/11: There is now extra credit available for spelling. If your student completes stair step writing for all of their words, and turn it in on the morning of the spelling test they will receive an extra 10% on their final score. Here is an example for the word "picture"

11/18/11: Good news, the due date for the mission project has been pushed back one week. The new due date is 12/6/11. Have a great break!
11/15/11: Please don't forget we are going on a field trip tomorrow. Remember to wear your spirit shirts. Parents, we may be a few minutes late coming home. We are scheduled to leave La Jolla at 2:00.
11/9/11: Friendly reminder, I need ALL permission slips and money for the field trip by Tuesday. Also don't forget to go over the mission report project packet with your student by tomorrow, so we can select our missions by monday.

10/20/11: If anyone has any old newspapers, or old paper they don't mind getting rid of please bring it for a science experiment tomorrow. Thanks for the help (still need drivers for Nov. 16th).
10/17/11: Testing has begun. There may be a little bit less homework this week as we complete our Standardized testing. We will be working on testing for about 1 hour a day. Also we still need volunteer drivers and chaperones for our upcoming field trip if anyone is available (Nov. 16th).

We will be joining Mrs. Sullivan's 3rd grade class and visiting the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla on November 16th. If anyone is interested in chaperoning or driving that day please let me know and I will get you all of the necessary paperwork.
